I Am Fangirl, Hear Me Roar

I just want to friend the entire human race.
Friends-only to prevent stalker issues.

Contains swearing and other stuff that you wouldn't want to show your grandparents.

As a child, did you feel like you were you expected to pursue a certain type of career? How did this make you feel? Did you wind up choosing a different profession or path?

Not in the slightest.

My parents always just told me to follow my heart when it came to my future career. So when I decided, at the tender age of 10, to become a cartoonist, they were supportive. They still are.

Which song lyrics send shivers down your spine and really hit you emotionally?

Oh, so many.

Can't (Halloween Valentine) by Scarling really gets to me, because I've gone through an experience like that. Another one in that vein is Ampersand by Amanda Palmer, though it was a different experience.

In terms of pure emotion, Strength Through Music and The Point Of It All, both by Amanda Palmer, are particularly heart-wrenching.

Then there's The End Of The Tour by They Might Be Giants, but that's probably due to my own interpretation. :P
How do you feel when an adapted film's story deviates from the original material?

Honestly, it depends on how good the movie itself is.

For example, Coraline deviated significantly from the original book, but it was all well-done, so I liked it anyway.

Backyard games, summer camp, trips to the pool… what's your favorite childhood memory of summer?

Sitting around doing absolutely nothing important.

This still applies, by the way.

Writer's Block: Memories

What is the most memorable event of your life so far? What made it so special? Do you think you'll ever top it?

I have several.
  • My first date with my ex-boyfriend, Paul. You'd think this would be a negative memory, but since we broke up on good terms, it really isn't. We mostly just hung out at his house and played with dandelions in the park.
  • My first TMBG concert. I went with my dad and Paul, and we seriously had the time of our lives. Well, I did, at least. I also met John Flansburgh that night, which was incredibly special.
  • My second trip to ComicCon--the first was memorable too (I met Jhonen Vasquez!), but the second time just felt more special somehow. I also met Amanda Palmer and Mark Ryden, so that's pretty cool.
  • July 3rd and 4th, 2009. Meeting Kate  (BEST FRIEND! <3), Sean, and Jessa IRL for the first time. Causing chaos on Grandville Island. Singing I'm On A Boat while riding on the ferry and being shushed by the ferry pilot. The memories are kinda bittersweet now, but still.
  • January 8th through January 11th (I think I got the dates right), 2010. San Francisco with Kate. Taking funny pictures at Alcatraz and the zoo. Bozly Bear's antics. Making Bonus Stage characters on The Sims. DUCKFACE. Good times, good times
And I do think I'll be able to top these. Hiatt is probably visiting soonish, and I'm going to Disneyland with Kate and Jessa in August. I can't wait.

Do you give your vehicles names? If so, what are they?

I lack vehicles.

I do, however, name my boobs. Their names are Mary and Carey.

Who is your favorite TV character of all time? Why did s/he make such a big impact on you? Do you collect any memorabilia? Did s/he inspire you creatively in any way?

Well she's not a TV character but oh come on do I really need to explain this one
